End-of-year party

Three weeks ago we had the end-of-party of my department, featuring our two bands composed of students and faculty: "Creole formation" and "The Dead tongues"! Here are the pictures Goeric took to share the ambiance with you ;-) (As you know Goeric feels better behind his camera than on the dance floor :-p)

Bruno&Mirjam's wedding

For those who didn't know, we went back to Belgium for a week-end to celebrate Bruno&Mirjam's wedding (May 12th). It's already more than a month ago, but we're trying to get our blog up to speed again! So here we are with a nice picture... As well a movie recounting Bruno and Goeric's long friendship (they have known each other for more than 20 years!). However, be ready to wait: the file is even larger than usual, as it's a 15 minute long movie (in relatively high quality though).

Where there's smoke, there's fire

You'll probably hear about it on the news: California wildfire burns 220 homes. So, just to reassure you and tell you we are safely back from our week-end in Lake Tahoe.

That day we went for a bike tour on the North-East side of Lake Tahoe (above Incline Village, along the famous "Flume Trail"), and we saw the fire from above (first picture). When we came back at the hotel in South Lake Tahoe, we realized how dramatic the situation was: roads closed, people evacuated... Ashes and even small pieces of charred wood were falling from the sky... The standard way to go back to the Bay Area was closed, so we had to make a detour (second and third pictures).

Laundry day :-P

This Saturday was a typical laundry day: back and forth to the laundry room where the longest time the washing machine takes to run is 28 minutes ;-)
